JABALPUR: Tension is mounting inMadhya Pradesh's tribal-dominated district of Dindori as three people, includingtwo tribals, were killed and 11 others injured on Tuesday in a police firing ona mob protesting against police inaction in the case of a missing advocate,Narayan Padwar.
The mob also torched a government vehicle as itclashed with the police, injuring many police personnel, including asub-divisional officer of police (SDOP). The district administration has imposedprohibitory orders at Dindori-Amarkantak road. Additional forces have beencalled in from adjacent districts as part of precautionarymeasures.
The police, according to information reaching in Jabalpur,opened fire on a mob of nearly 2,000 villagers gathered on theDindori-Amarkantak road at Amaldiya village protesting against police inactionin tracing advocate Narayan Padwar, missing for the last three months. Theagitation turned violent when the police personnel tried to forcefully vacatethe villagers and clear the road for traffic.
The deceased have beenidentified as Kailash Gond, Brijlal Gond (both tribals) and Dinesh Kuteshwar.The injured villagers have been admitted to a government hospital, Karanjyablock. The condition of three persons is stated to be critical and they arelikely to be referred to the government medical college Jabalpur, sourcessaid.
